Hospital staff celebrated

05/08/2015

Uniontown Hospital is proud to be the health care provider for Fayette County and is committed to fostering relationships dedicated to the health of the region.

That commitment would not be possible without the hundreds of staff at the facility that give of themselves every day to positively affect the lives that are touched by the hospital. And that dedication is evident across all departments at Uniontown Hospital, from physicians and nurses to all support and administrative staff, every member of the Uniontown Hospital team works to provide the best possible care to patients and to making a healthy difference.

In honor of that commitment and to commemorate National Hospital Week, May 11 through 17, Uniontown Hospital will take time to recognize the differences being made by its health care professionals by giving back to them.

“All of our employees are the reason we are able to provide expert medical care locally,” hospital CEO Steve Handy said. “We are all here for our patients and their families and we are here for one another. It is part of who we are and it is what sets us apart. We are friends, neighbors and family caring for friends, neighbors and family and we do it well.”

Throughout the week, hospital employees will be treated to snacks and novelties and will also receive T-shirts that promote the mission of the hospital – “We are all here for you…to make a healthy difference in the lives we touch.”

And while the gifts are nice, it is what hospital staff will receive from coworkers and from patients throughout the week that will be a greater reward.

“This is an opportunity for each and every person here to take a moment and say thanks to one another and to enjoy the satisfaction that you gain from a job well done,” hospital Director of Service Excellence Melissa Fox said. “The truly wonderful things that happen at Uniontown Hospital begin with the hard work and commitment of the entire staff.”

The nation’s largest health care event, National Hospital Week began in 1921 in Chicago. That initial celebration succeeded in promoting trust and goodwill with the community and grew into an annual national movement.
